Malick Fofana’s plans revealed as Everton submit blockbuster bid for Lyon star

Malick Fofana’s potential move to Everton is a transfer story that has rapidly gathered pace in recent days.

The winger was excellent for Lyon last season, and he could now be set for a move to the Premier League as David Moyes continues to work towards strengthening his squad for next term.

Everton have shown plenty of interest in Fofana, and they appear to be keen to get a deal over the line as quickly as possible.

The Toffees need to add to their options in the wide areas, and Fofana’s own stance on a potential move to Merseyside has now been revealed.

Fofana has other priorities despite £31.4m Everton bid

Everton materialised their interest in Fofana on Saturday (26 July), when they tabled an initial bid worth £31.4million for the 20-year-old.

Their opening proposal is understood to be marginally short of Lyon’s valuation of the wideman, who is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich.

The Toffees are currently the only club to have lodged an official bid for the Belgian international, and his view on a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium has now become clear.

Fofana is believed to have other plans instead of joining Everton, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri via X (27 July).

The youngster is thought to be aware of interest from clubs who can offer him Champions League football, and he could be prepared to wait for them to make room for him in their squad.

Toffees shouldn’t give up on Fofana

Everton are no strangers to frustration in the transfer market this summer, as the landscape has been altered in their pursuit of Douglas Luiz on countless occasions now.

They could be about to taste a familiar bitter feeling with Fofana, but they shouldn’t be prepared to give up their chase of the wideman that easily.

Bayern Munich are also working on a deal to sign Luis Diaz from their neighbours in L4, and it remains to be seen whether the German giants would be able to add both him and Fofana to their ranks.

The Toffees may not be able to offer Champions League football to the Lyon star, but they could easily present themselves as a strong platform for Fofana to shine in.

If Moyes and Co. can get a deal agreed and put the youngster in a position where he has to make a decision, then he may well be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
