Everton ready for transfer spending spree as TFG complete big-money deal

Everton have perhaps not enjoyed the transfer window that they were expecting so far this summer.

The Toffees are set to enter a new era with their move into the Hill Dickinson Stadium this term, and they will be hopeful of kicking on after a strong conclusion to the 2024/25 campaign.

However, David Moyes has been left frustrated at the way Everton’s window has played out until now, with the Scot having still welcomed just two new faces into his squad.

The Premier League season is now just a few weeks away, and Moyes must be desperately hoping that the Toffees’ fortunes in the transfer market will change imminently.

Everton’s spending could be unlocked as women’s team is sold

The Friedkin Group had been exploring the possibility of selling Everton’s women’s team this summer, in a bid to boost their PSR standing.

The Merseysiders could bank themselves a healthy amount of ‘pure profit’ by conducting a stunt akin to the one previously carried out by Todd Boehly and his regime at Chelsea.

It has previously been mooted by football finance expert Kieran Maguire that Everton could stand to make as much as £65million from a possible sale of their women’s team, and now they have pushed through with the idea.

Everton have now transferred their women’s team to a company called Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited, according to Maguire via X (28 July).

The company still falls under the control of The Friedkin Group, and is registered at Goodison Park.

It is currently unclear exactly how much the Toffees could be set to bank from the sale, but it could unlock the door to a whole world of spending possibilities in the transfer market.

Any concerns about potential PSR issues later down the line will now surely have been alleviated, and that should open the door for more players to be brought in.

Moyes will undoubtedly be delighted with the deal, as it could provide the funding for the signings that he still desperately desires.

Everton need more squad depth

Thierno Barry and Mark Travers are the only new faces to arrive at Everton this summer, but there will need to be several more brought in before the end of the window.

The Toffees are lacking squad depth across the board, and that is an issue that will certainly need to be addressed before the window draws to a close.

Today’s Premier League is a relentless and unforgiving schedule, and the Merseysiders could easily find themselves stretched concerningly thin should a couple of injuries affect them at the same time.

It is no surprise that Moyes still wants to bring in more players, and the Scot will certainly be hoping that there is now more scope for investment to be made in the squad.
