Georgios Vagiannidis to clear medical amid Everton transfer update
This story includes exclusive opinion from injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar.
Everton have been linked with a move to secure the services of Panathinaikos defender Georgios Vagiannidis.
Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has delivered a verdict on the 23-year-old’s fitness ahead of a potential medical this summer.
Last season, the right-back played 27 league games and 90 minutes in most of them.

Vagiannidis expected to clear his medical this summer
Vagiannidis is not expected to face any issues in clearing his medical this summer, according to Dr Brar.
Everton want to sign Vagiannidis and can secure his services for £13million. [A Bola, page 32, 11 July]

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Vagiannidis: “He had a minor muscle injury last season, but it resulted in him only missing one game.
“That would not bring up any red flags in the pre-transfer search.
“I expect him to clear his medical as well, but he may take some time to adapt to life in the Premier League.”

Everton are unlikely to go ahead with the Vagiannidis transfer
Everton have made a decision to pursue Adam Aznou over Vagiannidis and that likely stems from their strategic priorities and tactical needs.
Aznou, a 19-year-old left-back from Bayern Munich, offers a dynamic, attacking profile. This aligns with David Moyes’ aim to bolster the squad with youthful, versatile players who can develop long-term.
His technical ability and potential make him a better fit for their need for a progressive full-back, especially after losing Ashley Young.
Conversely, Vagiannidis is less attacking, with modest stats and would not be the best fit for Everton.
His defensive focus and recent disciplinary issues may not suit the Toffees’ immediate need for attacking dynamism.
