Dwight McNeil reacts as emotional farewell now confirmed

Everton have secured a handful of signings ahead of the Premier League season, but much more is needed before the trip to Leeds.

Thierno Barry and Mark Travers have secured moves to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, while Carlos Alcaraz turned his loan into a permanent switch.

There has also been significant talk of Jack Grealish moving to Everton, which would be the transfer headline of the summer.

Now, Dwight McNeil has reacted to an exit from one of his old teammates.

McNeil reacts as Everton target departs Premier League club

Everton face West Ham in the United States next, in what promises to be an intriguing encounter.

Not only are the Premier League sides to battle on the pitch, but they have also been linked with the same transfer targets.

Both have been linked with moves for Grealish, while Douglas Luiz is another player attracting interest from the English duo.

Indeed, now it has been confirmed that another of their targets has departed his club after five and a half years of service.

That man is Josh Brownhill, who confirmed his Burnley exit on Instagram on Monday (28 July).

The former Clarets captain posted an image of himself waving, with a parting message to Burnley supporters.

Brownhill said: “Always a claret,” followed by a heart emoji and a longer statement.

Intriguingly, McNeil reacted by liking his former Turf Moor teammate’s post, perhaps encouraging him to complete a move to Everton.

Brownhill a good fit for David Moyes if Toffees make move

Everton have been steady in the transfer window, despite many thinking they would splurge substantial funds.

However, their summer could take off at any moment, given the number of player links.

One of those could be Brownhill, and the midfielder could represent a smart piece of business by the North West outfit.

The 29-year-old has developed into a complete midfielder, and although he thrived in the second tier, he would be worth taking a gamble on in the Premier League.

Brownhill is combative, adaptable and should fit into Moyes’ current system with ease.

Moreover, the free agent would be available at no cost, essentially making him a near risk-free proposition.

While his signing would not be as glamorous as Grealish’s, he could represent a worthy acquisition for Moyes.
