Everton wait in wings to hijack Hayden Hackney deal amid £20m update

Everton, Manchester United, Tottenham and Ipswich Town are among the clubs linked with Hayden Hackney.

The 23-year-old Middlesbrough midfielder is a man in demand this summer and an exit appears to be on the cards for him.

Hackney was a regular for Boro last season, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 43 Championship games.

Hackney not hot on sealing Ipswich Town transfer

According to Give Me Sport (31 July), the Englishman may snub the chance to join Ipswich this summer, despite a £20million bid being accepted.

He fancies moving to Spurs and may delay his decision to see if a move to North London materialises.

Everton have entered the race to sign Hackney and are waiting in the wings to see if a deal is on the cards for them to hijack.

Manchester United have also shown an interest in bringing the Middlesbrough star to Old Trafford in the coming weeks.

Hackney’s priority is regular game time and a move to the Premier League certainly appeals to him.

Everton should beat Tottenham to the Hackney transfer

Hackney would be an excellent signing for Everton due to his dynamic box-to-box play and passing ability.

His composure on the ball and ability to win duels suit the Toffees’ need for midfield energy following Abdoulaye Doucoure’s departure.

To convince Hackney over Tottenham, Everton can emphasise guaranteed game time under David Moyes, who seeks a central midfielder to anchor the squad at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Tottenham’s crowded midfield limits Hackney’s chances of being a regular starter, whereas the Blues may offer a regular first-team role.

Highlighting their strong relationship with his new agency and a clear path to Premier League prominence could sway Hackney, valued at £20million, to choose the Merseyside outfit.
