Every Everton fan should be concerned after what Moyes has now admitted

Everton manager David Moyes was far from pleased after his side’s pre-season fixture against West Ham in America.

Although some may say it is only pre-season for the Toffees, Moyes was critical of their performance in Chicago after falling to a 2-1 defeat against Moyes’ former club.

Big money signing Thierno Barry failed to impress in his second-half cameo as the 22-year-old Frenchman had a game to forget.

With Moyes also being recently critical of how Everton have operated in the transfer window, supporters of the Blues will be concerned with what their manager has had to say so far over the summer.

Moyes makes shocking admission after West Ham defeat

Despite the recent arrival of Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich, Everton still have plenty more business that needs to be conducted before the new Premier League campaign.

New signing Mark Travers also made a critical error in the friendly, gifting Lucas Paqueta an equaliser for the Hammers.

Speaking after the defeat (31 July) in the post-game press conference, Moyes admitted that his side hadn’t been good enough in the final third before doubling down on being critical of the Blues‘ transfer activity.

“I’m not overly concerned [by the results] because I don’t have the players which I need and what I want,” he said.

“And obviously, we’re up against it right from the start. We knew before we came [to the US] we were going to be really up against it.

The Scotsman continued: “We wanted to have the players in a lot sooner, especially coming here [to the US], I knew we were going to be incredibly short.”

With the Toffees trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United on the horizon, supporters will be anxiously hoping that more arrivals can join latest recruit Aznou on Merseyside in the coming days.

Everton need to back Moyes as much as possible

With the Blues entering the Hill Dickson Stadium next season, Evertonians would have been hoping that this marked the start of an ambitious new era.

The Toffees have battled relegation for multiple seasons now and despite Moyes having a terrific record since taking back over, this could begin to unravel quickly if he is not backed in the market by The Friedkin Group.

Everton summer signings so far:

They cannot being accused of showing a lack of ambition so far this summer, with Everton lodging a bid for Lyon ace Malick Fofana.

With their bid being rejected, Everton supporters will be hoping that they turn their attnetion to more realistic targets, with Moyes desperately needing reinforcements in the attacking wide areas of his squad.
