Lyanco’s potential Everton medical would focus on historic hamstring injury

Everton are reportedly keen on securing the services of Atletico Mineiro defender Lyanco in the coming weeks.

David Moyes is keen on bolstering his defence and the 28-year-old centre-back has emerged as a potential option.

The Brazilian spent three seasons at Southampton and has been linked with a return to the United Kingdom.

Lyanco not expected to face issues with his medical

While the Toffees are expected to take a closer look at his recent hamstring injury, it is not something likely to cause an issue with his medical, according to Dr Brar.

Everton have made an enquiry into signing Lyanco as they want to bolster their backline this summer. (Globo, 19 July)

Speaking about Lyanco, Dr Brar told Goodison News: “Everton may take a closer look at his recent hamstring injury to see if it’s related to past injuries and/or recurring.

“However, I do not see this causing any issues with his medical and he should clear it.

“His prior experience with the British game during his Southampton days will also help him adapt.”

Everton are unlikely to pursue Lyanco’s services

Everton are unlikely to pursue Lyanco, as the Brazilian defender does not immediately strengthen their starting eleven.

The 28-year-old lacks the impact needed to displace Everton’s current defenders like James Tarkowski, Jake O’Brien or Jarrad Branthwaite.

His limited Premier League experience and inconsistent performances suggest he’s better suited as squad depth.

Funds are better allocated to bolster midfield creativity or attacking options, areas critical for achieving their goals in the Premier League.

The Toffees’ youth-focused strategy, seen in signings like Tim Iroegbunam, further diminishes the appeal of Lyanco’s short-term, high-wage addition.
