John Victor has big Everton transfer decision to make as multi-million bid flies in
Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor is on the radar of a number of Premier League sides, including Everton, West Ham and Manchester United.
The 29-year-old has performed exceptionally in Brazil, and he could leave his club before the transfer window closes.
Victor spent eight seasons at Santos before he joined Botafogo to become their first-choice goalkeeper.

West Ham table £6.9m bid for Victor
According to Fabrizio Romano (1 August), West Ham have tabled a £6.9million bid for the Brazilian shot stopper.
Everton have been linked with Victor, but so have the likes of Galatasaray and Manchester United.
However, none of them have formalised their interest like the Hammers have as they look to sign an upgrade on Alphonse Areola.
The 29-year-old has not been capped by the Brazil national team, but has over 100 games of senior experience under his belt
Everton unlikely to be bothered given Mark Travers’ arrival
Everton are unlikely to be perturbed by Victor potentially joining West Ham, as their goalkeeping hierarchy is well-established under David Moyes, with Jordan Pickford as the undisputed number one and Mark Travers recently signed as a solid number two.
Pickford, England’s first-choice goalkeeper, consistently anchors the Toffees’ defence, ensuring reliability in Moyes’ disciplined, counter-attacking system.
Club | Appearances | Clean Sheets |
Botafogo | 84 | 36 |
Santos | 28 | 9 |
Internacional | 14 | 5 |
Real Valladolid | 12 | 5 |
Travers, acquired from Bournemouth, brings Premier League experience and serves as a capable deputy, aligning with Moyes’ preference for dependable backups.
Victor, despite his strong Botafogo record, would likely compete for second choice, offering minimal immediate impact.
With Moyes prioritising squad depth in other areas amid financial constraints, Everton’s goalkeeping setup remains robust, making Victor’s potential move to West Ham irrelevant to their strategic plans for Premier League survival and progress.
A winger is understood to be the priority, so funds are expected to be allocated towards making that happen instead of another keeper.
