Everton sent message amid Geny Catamo transfer pursuit

David Moyes wants new wingers at Everton and Sporting CP’s Geny Catamo has been linked with a move.

The 24-year-old has been at the Portuguese club since 2021, when he joined from Amora.

Last season, he played a regular role for Sporting, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 30 league games and he even scored in the Champions League.

Everton may take a closer look at Catamo’s recent spell of injuries

The Toffees may look at the Mozambique international’s recent spell of fitness issues before making a decision to sign him, according to Dr Brar.

Everton, Fulham and Aston Villa are among the clubs keen on Catamo, with Como also showing an interest. (Correio Da Manha, 23 June, page 30)

This article includes exclusive opinion from injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist.

Speaking about Catamo, Dr Brar told Goodison News“Everton may take a closer look at his recent spell of injuries, particularly if they’re recurrent or related injuries.

“His ankle appears to be causing some issues, so that is something that could impact the club’s decision to sign him.

“However, if that has healed, then there shouldn’t be a reason for them to avoid this transfer.”

David Moyes must ask the Toffees to sign better players than Catamo

While Catamo is a talented winger, David Moyes will likely seek higher-calibre players for the upcoming season.

His limited impact in big matches and injury issues raise concerns about his readiness for Everton’s Premier League ambitions.

Moyes, backed by the Friedkin Group, aims to build a squad at Everton and have a good first season at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Hopefully, the Toffees look for other options who can realistically take the goal-scoring burden off of Thierno Barry, who joined from Villarreal.
