Everton transfer green light emerges as Juventus push for Douglas Luiz exit

Everton are eyeing an ambitious offer for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz this transfer window.

The Brazil international was one of the best enforcers in the Premier League not long ago, but has struggled to settle at the Serie A outfit.

After a year in Italy, Luiz is already thinking about returning to the Premier League, with the Toffees one of his potential suitors.

David Moyes has urged The Friedkin Group (TFG) to make more additions before the end of August, and the Blues have been given the green light to sign the former Aston Villa star.

Moyes admires Luiz amid Everton transfer interest

Luiz is a player the Toffees feel they need the most.

That is according to GiveMeSport (2 August), who report that Moyes is a “big fan” of the 27-year-old and the Blues are keen to sign him.

It’s been claimed that while the Merseyside outfit are open to a loan deal with an option to buy, Juventus want an obligation in any temporary deal.

Nottingham Forest are also in the race for the Brazilian national, and he was being pushed for a transfer to the Tricky Trees during recent discussions.

What will Luiz bring to Bramley-Moore Dock?

It will be interesting to see whether TFG will be able to convince Luiz to sign for the Toffees, with lucrative terms arguably needed to entice him.

If the Blues are able to get a deal over the line for the 27-year-old, Moyes will hope to get the best out of him at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Brazil international was pivotal for Unai Emery as he helped Villa to a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification in the 2023/24 campaign.

Everton will be getting a quality midfielder in Luiz, capable of dictating the pace of the game and creating opportunities.

The 27-year-old also has impressive abilities on set-pieces and can hold his nerves from the penalty spot.

Moyes undoubtedly needs proven winners to make further progress at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next season, and the Brazilian midfielder can certainly bring that mentality to L5.
