Everton set to seal transfer agreement as Dion Lopy ready to ‘pack his bags soon’
Everton appear to be drawing ever closer towards completing the signing of Dion Lopy.
The midfielder caught the eye with his performances for Spanish second tier outfit Almeria last season, and that has prompted links with a move to the Premier League.
Lopy has already been subject to a bid from Everton, but his current employers rejected that approach and are believed to be holding out for a fee in excess of £17million.
David Moyes’ side have their eyes fixed firmly on the Senegal international, and they look to be making huge strides towards securing his signature.

Everton ready £21.8m offer as Lopy prepares to “pack his bags soon”
Almeria have made it clear that they are reluctant to sell Lopy to Everton, given the number of key players they have already lost this summer.
They have previously taken a stance that the 23-year-old’s sale will not be considered under any circumstances, but that could seemingly be about to change.
- Everton have already seen a bid for Lopy rejected
- They are now eyeing up a new offer of £21.8m
- It is understood that Almeria would likely see this offer as too good to refuse
Everton are understood to be willing to raise their offer to around £21.8m, according to Elmira (6 August).
The local Spanish newspaper adds that this is an “irrefutable” amount for a team in the second division, and they feel that barring a major surprise, Almeria “will not reject” this latest offensive from the Toffees.
It is also believed that unless events regarding the potential deal change “drastically,” Lopy will “pack his bags soon” and make the switch to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Lopy to provide valuable depth for Moyes
David Moyes will have been delighted to tie Idrissa Gana Gueye down to a new contract earlier in the summer, but with the midfielder turning 36 in September, the boss needs a backup option.
Gueye’s countryman could be the perfect addition for the Scot to oversee a smooth and steady changing of the guard in the midfield, given that Lopy is 12 years younger than the Toffees’ current star.
The Almeria man is tough tackling and energetic, and he is everything that Moyes wants from his two deep-lying midfielders.

Squad depth has been a major issue for the Merseysiders over the last few seasons, and it is a key priority to address that before the new campaign gets underway.
Lopy may not initially find himself within Everton’s strongest XI, but it is promising to see a signing made with the future firmly in mind.
Gueye is unlikely to be able to continue at the top level for too much longer, but the Toffees may be about to land their perfect replacement imminently.
