Everton transfer ‘priority’ emerges amid Tyler Dibling transfer breakthrough

Everton could potentially solve a significant issue by signing Southampton forward Tyler Dibling this transfer window.

The Toffees have had interest in the 19-year-old for some time now, and seem to have finally found an agreement with the Saints after having multiple offers rejected.

Dibling looks set to arrive at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the supporters may have to wait until after the Brighton fixture on 24 August for the winger.

David Moyes already has Jack Grealish at his disposal, but the English youngster’s arrival will give the Scottish manager a much-needed option on the right side of the attack.

Everton don’t need right-back as right-wing biggest concern

A new right-back may not be the priority for the Toffees as things stand, Joe Thomas says.

The journalist believes the Blues’ “biggest concern” is on the right-wing, having lost Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison at the end of last season.

With Iliman Ndiaye, Dwight McNeil and Carlos Alcaraz not at their best playing on the right side of the attack, Dibling’s acquisition will certainly be a massive boost for the Merseyside outfit.

Thomas wrote in the Liverpool Echo on 23 August: “A right back is not the priority right now, though. Frustrating as it would be to start a new era with an old problem, my biggest concern is the right wing. Again, Everton have been alive to this, and one of the stories of the summer is the long list of options the club has run through in this position.

“The hope is that Dibling will be the answer to at least some of these problems, and Everton’s stance — to wait for Southampton to return to the negotiating table — has been vindicated after the breakthrough in talks on Friday night.”

David Moyes should push for defensive reinforcement after Tyler Dibling transfer

Dibling’s signing at Bramley-Moore Dock feels like a long time coming after the Toffees arguably made him one of their concrete targets this summer.

The 19-year-old will certainly give Moyes a much-needed option for a balanced front line, but the Blues may have no time to waste.

With the transfer window coming to a close soon, there are still undoubtedly several key areas that the Merseyside outfit could strengthen.

Natural full-backs at Moyes’ disposal right now

Everton have made contact for Karl Etta Eyong, with the young Villarreal striker potentially adding more depth in the number nine position.

A new right-back should be on the agenda for the Toffees, considering Jake O’Brien doesn’t provide much threat in the final third despite his defensive stability.

A new veteran left-back may also be on the agenda if Vitalii Mykolenko is out for a considerable period, as Adam Aznou still has a lot to learn, but only time will tell what sort of business the Blues will pull off before Deadline Day.
