Declan Rice sends message after Jack Grealish scenes in Everton win vs Brighton
Jack Grealish was the star of the show as Everton beat Brighton on Sunday.
David Moyes’ side eased to a 2-0 victory in Everton’s first Premier League match at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium on 24 August.
There was a scare when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was judged to have handled in the box, but Jordan Pickford saved Danny Welbeck’s penalty.
It was the perfect response to Everton’s opening day loss to newly-promoted Leeds.

Declan Rice loves what Jack Grealish did in Everton win vs Brighton
Grealish was on top form for Everton as he notched two assists in the victory, and it should have been three.
He laid a delicious ball on a plate for Dwight McNeil, but the ex-Burnley man could not convert from close range.
Grealish took to Instagram on 24 August after the contest, saying: “Phwoaaar, what a Sunday that is.
“What a feeling to make my home debut and get our first win of the season. The stadium, the fans, the passion. And thank you to the fans for such a nice reception.
“Incredible.”
Arsenal star Declan Rice responded to the post, commenting “buzzing for you” with a heart emoji.
Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers also commented “my brother” with a blue heart emoji.

Jack Grealish can revive his career at Everton
Grealish has had a tough few years under Pep Guardiola, and it was clear that he needed to be handed creative freedom wherever he went next.
The loan to the Blues is the perfect move to revive his career and potentially get back into the England squad for the World Cup next summer.
- Grealish has not featured in the last six England squads
- His last appearance for the Three Lions was against Finland in October 2024
- He has 39 caps for his country so far
The fact that the likes of Rice and Rogers are clearly so excited about their international teammates’ display shows that he is still a popular figure amongst Thomas Tuchel’s side.
If he can maintain the performance levels that he showed against the Seagulls, he will be in high demand, and it may be hard for the Toffees to keep hold of him.
They do have an option to purchase the Three Lions ace for a fee of £50million upon the expiry of his loan, but he may have new options on the table.
If he performs like he did against Fabian Hurzeler’s side every week, though, it may be a tough battle to convince him to stay on Merseyside.
