Everton make last-minute approach to sign Barcelona defender

Everton have had a busy deadline day so far, with David Moyes making last-minute tweaks to his squad.

Merlin Rohl is set to move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium before the window shuts, with the manager finally getting the midfielder that he has wanted.

However, with just hours left before the deadline, there is little time to get more business done.

Yet, this is not set to stop Moyes, who is continuing to remain active in an attempt to get further deals done.

Everton make late enquirers for Barcelona’s Hector Fort

Despite a successful transfer window so far, Everton look short on right-backs going into the rest of the season.

After missing out of Kenny Tete, Everton have not been able to attract a first-team full-back into the Merseyside club.

However, there could be a late twist in the transfer window.

According to indykaila News via X on 1 September, Everton have made last-minute enquiries for Hector Fort.

The Barcelona star is primarily a right-back, but can also be used on the left flank.

The 19-year-old made 20 appearances in the first team last season as the Catalan club went on to win La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

How good is Hector Fort?

If Everton were to get the deal for Fort over the line, it would no doubt be a bit of a coup.

According to Fotmob on 1 September, the full-back is an excellent passer, as one would expect from a Barcelona academy graduate.

The defender is also exceptional at winning the ball high up the pitch, with great recovery stats.

Hector Fort La Liga stats from the 2024/25 campaignPer 90 minutes
Shots 0.93
Expected assists 0.20
Passing accuracy 92.4%
Chances created 1.55
Touches in opposition box 2.95
Tackles won 1.24

Fort has multiple impressive stats

However, while some of his other defensive stats remain low, this could improve over time as he develops.

Hopefully, Everton and Moyes will be able to strike a deal for Fort before the transfer window closes.
