Jack Grealish could do something no Everton player’s done in five years as announcement made
Jack Grealish has enjoyed a sensational start to his Everton career, after joining on loan from Manchester City.
The winger starred as Everton beat Wolves 3-2 on Saturday 30 August, picking up assists for the game’s opener, and winner.
Grealish was named in the Premier League team of the month, and has already registered more league assists for the Toffees than he had over the last two seasons for Manchester City.
David Moyes has been delighted by the England international’s impact, and told media following the Wolves clash that the 29-year-old is even better than he thought.
Among the most impressive stats from the season’s early weeks is that Grealish is in the top one per cent in Europe for progressive carries.

Jack Grealish nominated for Premier League player of the month
Grealish broke an Everton record against Wolves, by becoming the first Toffee to provide two assists in consecutive Premier League games.
The winger has proved transformative at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, leading Moyes’ side to three victories in their last three in all competitions.
And the former Aston Villa man is getting his due praise for his performances, too, with the Premier League announcing on Thursday 4 September that Grealish has been nominated for the player of the month award for August.
Nominee | Team | Direct goal contributions – August |
Jack Grealish | Everton | 4 |
Riccardo Calafiori | Arsenal | 3 |
Hugo Ekitike | Liverpool | 3 |
Marc Guehi | Crystal Palace | 1 |
Erling Haaland | Manchester City | 3 |
Joao Pedro | Chelsea | 4 |
Antoine Semenyo | Bournemouth | 3 |
Dominik Szoboszlai | Liverpool | 1 |
The Englishman will be among the favourites for the award, with Riccardo Calafiori, Hugo Ekitike, Marc Guehi, Erling Haaland, Joao Pedro, Antoine Semenyo, and Dominik Szoboszlai also nominated.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall can count himself unlucky to miss out, after also starting the season in superb fashion.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the last Everton player to win the award
Grealish can become the first Everton player since Dominic Calvert-Lewin to win the Premier League player of the month, with the striker winning in September 2020 for his five goals.
Romelu Lukaku also won the award in March 2017, with Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic representing the only time two Everton players have won the award in one season.
Phil Jagielka, Andrew Johnson, Kevin Campbell, Andrei Kanchelskis, and Duncan Ferguson are the other previous recipients for the Toffees.
