Aston Villa suffer another injury blow ahead of Everton clash as manager speaks out

Everton have received a boost ahead of Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa.

David Moyes‘ side hosts the Villans at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 13 September, looking to continue their impressive start to the campaign.

Jack Grealish has hit the ground running at Everton, and will hope to get on the scoresheet for the first time against his former club.

Former Everton man Amadou Onana and Boubacar Kamara are already ruled out of the contest, so the latest blow will be another problem for Unai Emery to deal with.

Matty Cash suffers injury blow ahead of Everton contest

Everton will be missing Jarrad Branthwaite, but the Villa Park outfit have more injury issues than the Blues.

Matty Cash could be set to join Onana and Kamara on the sidelines after going off in Poland’s 3-1 win over Finland.

The former Nottingham Forest star left the pitch at half-time and did not return for the second-half after opening the scoring.

Polish manager Jan Urban spoke after the clash, on the extent of Cash’s issue, saying: “Matty Cash got hit in the muscle with a knee.

“I saw he was limping; he wanted to keep playing, but I convinced him that a substitution was necessary.”

Everton will be confident that they can beat Aston Villa

Everton will be expecting another win when they return to top-flight action after the international break.

Moyes’ side have won their last two, and the Villans are in dismal form, failing to win in their opening three league matches

Given the players that Emery and Co. could be missing, it is a major opportunity for the Toffees to claim a big scalp, and show that their impressive start to the campaign is not a fluke.

The B6 outfit are still a good side, and want to compete for the Champions League places, so if the Blues can secure a win, it will give Moyes confidence that his side are on the right track.

It remains to be seen whether Cash’s issue is enough to keep him out of the match, Emery will provide an update in his pre-match press conference, but he may not want to risk the 28-year-old.
