Everton news round-up: Defender nearly left this summer as Wayne Rooney wowed by Jack Grealish
Everton are set to return to Premier League action on Saturday when they face Aston Villa at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Despite a strong start, Everton have been predicted to lose to Villa, with David Moyes’ side set to battle against expectations again.
The history does give the visitors the advantage, however, with the Toffee’s last win at home against the Villans falling in 2015.
Here, Goodison News rounds up all of the latest news on Wednesday 10 September.

Everton told to pursue Sergio Reguilon deal
Moyes has been faced with defensive difficulties this season, following injuries to both Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitalii Mykolenko.
The Scot has often been forced to deploy James Garner on the left of the defence, with the midfielder performing well when called on.
Everton will be looking at free agent Sergio Reguilon to provide cover, former scout Bryan King exclusively told Goodison News, with the Spaniard available on a free transfer.

Jordan Pickford set for Everton pay rise
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is set to sign a new contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The shot-stopper matched Gordon Banks’ record for consecutive clean sheets when he featured in England’s 5-0 win over Serbia on Tuesday.
Pickford is set for a pay rise at Everton, Dan Plumley exclusively told Goodison News.
Everton rejected big-money move for Vitalii Mykolenko
Mykolenko has spent much of the season out injured, but the Ukraine international still represents a key cog in the Everton defence when fit.
But it has emerged that the defender could have left the Toffees in the summer.
Napoli had a £26million bid rejected for Mykolenko, with the player not keen on the move either.
Wayne Rooney shares secret behind Jack Grealish form
Jack Grealish has been in exceptional form since his move to Everton, providing four assists in just three Premier League appearances so far.
The winger was snubbed for an England call-up, but did receive a nomination for Premier League player of the month, underlining his impact.

Wayne Rooney said that not playing at Manchester City was difficult for Grealish, and “he is just getting back playing and enjoying his football” at Everton.
