Kieran Maguire shares exciting clarity over Friedkin Group financial move

The Friedkin Group have enjoyed a successful start to life at Everton since their takeover in December.

During their short reign so far, they have overseen David Moyes’ return to Everton as well as multiple marquee signings, including Jack Grealish.

Dan Friedkin has been central to this, with the chairman investing heavily in the Merseyside club.

This also hasn’t solely benefited the men’s team, with Everton Women set to move into Goodison Park on the weekend.

Now, after a new financial update was released by Everton, Kieran Maguire has provided clarity on what it means.

Kieran Maguire: Issued Everton shares is likely a cash injection

It recently became clear that Everton had issued several shares, bringing in £46million.

It had been unclear the seasoning behind this, however, with Dan Plumley believing that Friedkin was simply investing in Everton.

Now, this belief has been backed by financial expert Maguire, who insists that Toffees fans have nothing to worry about.

He told the Price of Football podcast on 11 September: “The Friedkin Group have had a good start. Everton have had a decent start to the season.

“Jack Grealish is on fire, and there is a feel-good factor around the club as well.

“It looks as if they have put in around about £45million. That will provide working capital, and this is more likely to be a cash injection rather than a debt issue.”

Dan Friedkin may be one of the best owners in Premier League

While there is still a long way to go to make a proper assessment of Friedkin, his start at Everton has been outstanding.

In less than 12 months, the Toffees have gone from fighting relegation to being potential contenders for Europe this campaign.

Much of this is down to Everton’s owners and their decisions at the top which have brought about a successful new era to date.

If they continue to invest in the Merseyside club and ensure progression is made on the pitch, then Friedkin would easily be one of the best owners in the Premier League.

Hopefully, he continues to go down this route over the coming months and oversee further success.
