Everton news round-up: Stunning Jack Grealish deal ‘unlikely’, decision made on Toffees star
Everton are preparing for their Merseyside derby on Saturday as David Moyes looks to end his curse at Anfield.
With the Toffees preparing for their Premier League match against Liverpool, there has been plenty of news surrounding the build-up to the match.
On top of this, despite the transfer window being closed, rumours continue to fly around about players’ futures.
As a result, Goodison News has rounded up all of the latest stories from the past 24 hours below.

Bryan King: Man City won’t let Jack Grealish go for free
Jack Grealish has no doubt been sensational since he arrived at Everton.
The winger has already picked up four Premier League assists this campaign in a superb start.
As a result, the Toffees are keen to lock down the attacker permanently after his loan, with a potential free transfer being mooted.
However, Bryan King does not believe Manchester City will allow Grealish to join Everton for free.
- Grealish was unwanted at Man City after falling out of favour
- Everton signed the winger on loan this summer with an option to buy
- However, the Toffees reportedly want to sign Grealish on a free transfer
“I can’t see City doing that myself,” King said. “There are enough big earners over there. Business is business for them; if they can get half of the money that they laid out for him, then I would say that’s not a bad deal for them.
“He was part of the team that won everything, and he more than paid them back; he’s just fallen out of favour.
“It’s only been four games, so anything can happen in the next four games.
“It’s been a good move for him, because he’s under a manager who knows him, speaks his language, and he’s now become a big fish in a relatively small pond again.
“Good players will settle in anywhere. He’s certainly proving that he’s worth the investment.”

Bryan King: Vitalii Mykolenko not good enough to take Everton into new era
Another player with an uncertain future is Vitalii Mykolenko.
The full-back was subject to a bid from Napoli in the summer, which was promptly rejected by the Toffees.
However, King does not believe Mykolenko has a long-term future at Everton due to concerns over his ability.
- Mykolenko is currently out injured for Everton
- The full-back picked up a knock on international duty
- It is unknown if he will be back for the Merseyside derby on Saturday
“He’s been a good servant to the club,” King said.
“Napoli won the Italian league, and I think they were a bit of a surprise package last year, so I would have thought that would have been a good move for him.
“I can’t see him being a player in this new era of Everton that takes them to the next level.
“I would have thought £26m would have been a good offer for Everton.
“It’s either to be a new contract, or they sell him, it’s as simple as that really.”

Gabriel Agbonlahor picks out several Everton standouts
Overall, Everton have had a stunning start to their campaign.
Going into the Liverpool clash, the Toffees sit sixth, and have not lost since their opening game.
While Moyes’ side was only able to get a draw last time out, Gabby Agbonlahor remained impressed with multiple Everton stars against Aston Villa.
“I think he’d be happy, David Moyes, with how his team are playing,” the former Villa striker said.
“Ndiaye, Jack played very well, so did Idrissa Gueye in the midfield, and they look strong at the back as well, Tarkowski and O’Brien, very good. So Everton will be fine, totally fine.”
