Gabby Agbonlahor shares David Moyes verdict after what he just saw at Everton

Gabby Agbonlahor has weighed in on Everton’s season so far, after his beloved Aston Villa visited the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton drew 0-0 with Villa on Saturday, with a host of Emiliano Martinez saves being the difference between one point and zero for the visitors.

Jack Grealish was praised for his performance against Villa, with the winger continuing his strong start to the season.

The 30-year-old has been transformative across the pitch for David Moyes’ side, but, despite his best efforts, could not find the breakthrough against his former team.

Merlin Rohl made his Everton debut against Villa, and the German looked to fit straight in, featuring at the base of the midfield.

Gabriel Agbonlahor picks out several Everton standouts

James Garner has been touted for an England call-up by Moyes due to his performances for Everton this season, and the midfielder continued to impress against Villa.

Deployed again at left-back this season in light of the injury to Vitalii Mykolenko, the 24-year-old made several key defensive contributions and won all of his duels.

And going forward, Garner was among the Toffees’ most productive players, creating two big chances.

The former Manchester United player is among several Everton stars to impress in the Premier League so far this season.

Agbonlahor picked out impressive performances across the pitch after Saturday’s clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“I think he’d be happy, David Moyes, with how his team are playing,” the former Villa striker told talkSPORT on Wednesday.

“Ndiaye, Jack played very well, so did Idrissa Gueye in the midfield, and they look strong at the back as well, Tarkowski and O’Brien, very good. So Everton will be fine, totally fine.”

Idrissa Gueye is an unsung hero for Everton this season

Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye have been rightly picked out for their attacking performances this season for Everton.

But the Toffees have benefitted from the superb defensive work of Gueye in the midfield, too.

The 35-year-old has been dogged and energetic in the middle for Moyes, constantly harrying his opposition and making key interceptions to allow the players in front of him to counter.

Gueye’s work does not go unnoticed by his manager, with the Senegal international absent from the pitch for just 16 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.
