David Moyes told to seal deal for former Everton ally as long-term issue emerges

David Moyes has not been afraid to make changes at Everton since his appointment in January.

The Toffees’ squad has already been overhauled this summer, which has proved to be effective early on this season.

Jack Grealish’s addition at Everton has been inspirational, with the winger quickly impressing at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, the Scotsman has also not been afraid to make changes to his backroom staff, which could help continue the Toffees’ rise up the table.

Bryan King: Mick Doherty appointment would be good for Everton

Recently, Everton have been linked with former scout Mick Doherty.

The Merseyside club are reportedly still deciding whether to complete the deal after talks with James Smith.

However, former scout Bryan King has exclusively told Goodison News that Everton should look to complete the deal to help improve their recruitment.

“Mick was at the club when I was there, and he’s a good judge of a player,” King said.

“He was one of those who was responsible for bringing in Seamus Coleman.

“He’s just finished his time with Atlanta. They’ve already brought back one person who was central when we worked there, and that’s James Smith.

“He’s a well-respected scout as well as Mick, and he would both be a very good acquisition for the club, especially when it comes to recruitment.

“I think the recruitment was relatively poor in the last few years until Moyes went back. I don’t think the people in the positions of power were good enough and that’s been proven right, if they’re looking to bring back people who have worked with Moyes before.”

Quality recruitment is how Everton return to Europe

Everton’s long-term goal is to return to Europe once again after years out.

However, if this is to be achieved, their recruitment must be spot on, with bargains being uncovered by the Merseyside club.

Luckily, so far this season, this appears to have been a success, with Everton striking multiple impressive deals.

However, adding to this is a must, and the addition of Doherty could help to add an extra layer of knowledge, which will help Everton avoid flops.
