David Moyes plays Everton masterstroke in build-up to crunch Liverpool clash
Everton travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday in a crucial contest.
Everton are unbeaten in their last three Premier League matches, and David Moyes has them dreaming about European qualification.
The likes of Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye are capable of hurting Everton’s opponents on a regular basis.
However, Everton’s record at Liverpool under Moyes is horrendous, but the Scotsman may have played a blinder with his latest comments.

David Moyes shares thoughts on Liverpool’s record spending
Everton may come up against Alexander Isak, who the Reds spent £125million to sign on deadline day in the biggest deal of the transfer window.
Overall, Arne Slot’s side spent a total of nearly £450m, although it must be clarified that they did bring in approximately £194m in player sales.
Still, that figure is a record for an amount spent by a British club in one single window, and Moyes has shared his thoughts on the matter.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: “I found at West Ham that three years in Europe allowed us to spend money, allowed us to bring money in and upped the spending. From that point of view, Liverpool are entitled to do that.
“I heard Arne defending himself, and he’s brought in a lot of money as well, which he rightly has done. But I still think they’ve spent more on one player than we’ve spent on the whole squad.
“It gives you a realism over where the game is and where the clubs are. I need to try and shorten the gulf between the two clubs.
Liverpool have all the pressure after what David Moyes said
Moyes has pulled off a masterstoke, putting all the pressure on the Reds after their huge transfer outlay this summer.
The focus was on his miserable record in away derbies, but now he has shifted it to the spending power that the champions have.
- Liverpool spent £442m on new players in the window
- Everton spent approximately £113m on their new signings
- The disparity shows the difference between the two clubs at the moment
His claims about the gulf between the two clubs are right, but they also serve to put Slot’s side on the back burner and make it more important for them to win.
If the Reds fail to win, the discussion will centre around the fact that they spent so much and could not even beat the Toffees.
Whereas, if the Blues do not secure victory, well Moyes has a dismal record at that ground anyway and they have spent much less money.
It remains to be seen whether the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit can pull off a famous victory, but Moyes’ admission will not do them any harm, it may even help them.
