Jonathan Nsangou makes Everton history amid latest Finch Farm scenes

Everton’s academy is starting to heat up with several talented prospects.

Everton have struggled to produce top-quality talent in recent years, with Jarrad Branthwaite the only academy product to have a significant role in the first-team squad at the moment.

The Blues had the likes of Wayne Rooney, Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman coming through the Finch Farm ranks in Moyes’ first stint.

The Friedkin Group must invest in Everton’s academy, as there are multiple benefits to having homegrown players come into the senior team.

Jonathan Nsangou makes history in Everton Under-21s loss

Braiden Graham took the headlines for Everton’s youth side, but they have another prospect who deserves attention.

15-year-old Nsangou made his Under-21s debut for the Blues in the 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa, just six months after his Under-18s bow.

He has made history, as Nsangou is the first player to be born in the 2010s to play for the Toffees’ Under-21 side.

Everton need to prove there is a pathway to the first-team for Jonathan Nsangou

The Blues have lost several academy prospects in recent years due to not being able to offer them a place in the senior ranks.

The likes of Thierry Small, Mohamed Ali-Cho and Isaac Price have all departed in search of regular football, rather than waiting for their chance to break through on Merseyside.

The England Under-16 international is one of the most promising talents in the academy, and he needs to be shown that there is a pathway to the senior side, rather than having to leave to make an impact somewhere else.

The Toffees have tried to secure their best talents to long-term deals, but Nsangou cannot sign a professional contract until he is 17, meaning that he could be poached by a rival team, if Moyes’ side cannot convince him that his future is at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
