Dwight McNeil now destined for Everton transfer list after dismal scenes vs Wolves

Everton crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday with a 2-0 defeat to Wolves at Molineux.

It was an awful display from the Toffees, with few Everton players impressing in the defeat.

David Moyes’ gamble with the team sheet did not pay off at Molineux, with the Scotsman forced to bring on his star players to try and tip the balance of the match.

As a result, it has quickly become clear that many of the Toffees’ stars are not up to standard after a shameful display against a woeful Wolves side, including Dwight McNeil.

Dwight McNeil dreadful vs Wolves

While many Everton players were far from impressive on Tuesday, one of the worst was McNeil.

The winger had little to no positive impact on the match, as he failed to show Moyes why he should be back in the starting XI regularly.

According to Sofascore on 23 September, McNeil struggled both offensively and defensively, with the number of times he lost the ball a major concern.

McNeil was already linked with an Everton exit in January, and Moyes has to ensure this becomes a reality.

Wolves are easily the worst team in the Premier League so far and were out of confidence and low on form.

Yet, McNeil remained one of the worst players on the pitch and failed to have a positive impact anywhere.

Now, it would be best for both parties if they parted ways in the summer, with the winger clearly not suited to Moyes’ system.

David Moyes needs to be ruthless with his Everton squad in January

Alongside, McNeil, plenty of other Everton stars were terrible at Molineux.

Therefore, if performances don’t improve between now and the end of December, Moyes should not hesitate to move some of these players on.

The Scotsman has to be ruthless if the Toffees are to progress up the Premier League table and win silverware.

The defeat to Wolves was a massive wake-up call, showing that Everton still seriously lacks quality in-depth.
