Alan Myers calls out David Moyes after what he did in Everton loss vs Wolves

Everton crashed out of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 loss to Wolves on Tuesday.

The hosts took the lead at Molineux through a Marshall Munetsi effort, and Everton failed to find a response in a brutal blow.

Tim Iroegbunam’s dismal effort summed up Everton’s performance, and they could not find a leveller before Tolu Arokodare put the result beyond doubt.

James Tarkowski has admitted that Everton’s focus is on the cups this season, and it was a bitterly disappointing evening on 23 September.

David Moyes made a mistake in Wolves vs Everton

Moyes made seven changes to his Everton team for the clash, and that proved to be a mistake as they are now out of the cup.

Alan Myers has hit out at the Toffees manager over his team selection for the match, claiming that he does not understand why the Scotsman had made so many changes.

Taking to X on 23 September, he said: “I will never understand not playing your strongest team, never.”

Everton will regret Wolves result after what David Moyes did

Wolves are bottom of the Premier League, having failed to win any of their five matches in the competition this season.

The Blues had already beaten them 3-2, with their strongest team, so it would have made sense to go with that again.

Instead, Moyes picked a rotated side, and now the Toffees’ only chance to end their nearly 30-year trophy drought is the FA Cup.

The criticism is understandable, though, but hindsight is a wonderful thing, and the selection should have been enough to overcome the Midlands outfit.

The likes of Thierno Barry, Tyler Dibling and Iroegbunam need to prove that they can step up in the absence of Beto, Jack Grealish and Idrissa Gueye; they failed miserably against the Old Gold and that is a huge concern for Moyes.

The Blues cannot rely on their senior players for a whole season, they need replacements that can come in and make an impact.
