‘Comical’ Tim Iroegbunam error mocked on Sky Sports after what Everton star did vs Wolves
Tim Iroegbunam seems to be increasing in influence at Everton in recent months.
Iroegbunam was linked with an Everton exit in the transfer window, with a loan to Championship side Sheffield United mooted, but that never materialised.
Iroegbunam has started four of the Blues’ seven matches, and has come off the bench in two of the other three games.
He was left out of Everton’s controversial Merseyside derby loss to Liverpool, but was brought back in for the Carabao Cup clash with Wolves

Everton suffered another disappointing cup exit with a 2-0 loss at Molineux, but they were not without their chances.
In the 78th minute of the clash, Jake O’Brien found Iroegbunam after some excellent work down the right wing, but the 22-year-old’s finish was poor as he scuffed an effort that went well wide.
Speaking on Sky Sports on 23 September, commentator Dave Edwards said: “Jake O’Brien did exceptionally well down that right-hand side, evaded the tackle from Arias, and then finds the pass, that is a comical finish in the end from Iroegbunam, you don’t see that often from Premier League players.”
Everton need Tim Iroegbunam to bounce back quickly
The former Aston Villa academy star needs to put the miss behind him quickly, as the Toffees had numerous chances to get back into the game before Tolu Arokodare put the game beyond doubt.
David Moyes’ decision to make seven changes backfired massively, as his Blues side could not break down the relegation strugglers.
- Moyes rested the likes of Jordan Pickford, Vitalii Mykolenko, Jack Grealish and Beto
- Everton had 18 shots to the hosts’ 13 attempts
- However, both sides had four shots on target
Ultimately, the whole team deserves criticism, not just Iroegbunam, and they will all be devastated to have been knocked out of the competition.
The young midfielder needs to bounce back and show Moyes that he can be trusted to start for the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit on a regular basis.
He scuffed a chance when it came his way, but that was a familiar story for the visitors on a dismal night in the Midlands.
They now need to regroup, get back to winning ways in the league and be ready for when the FA Cup comes around in January, as that is their only chance at a trophy now.
