Everton simply must sell Beto as horrific numbers sum up David Moyes’ struggling striker

Beto has struggled for Everton so far this campaign as the attacker searches for goals.

The striker had a revival at the Merseyside club upon David Moyes’ arrival and was scoring for fun in the latter stages of the 2024/25 season.

However, this campaign has been a different story, with Beto only finding the net in the Premier League once.

As a result, Beto has received widespread criticism for his performances at Everton, and now, stats have revealed how bad he has been.

Beto has underperformed his xG in the Premier League

Everton have had problems in front of goal for years, and this does not look like changing anytime soon.

However, this is not due to a lack of chances.

According to Opta on 25 September, have created a solid 7.11 xG in their opening matches, yet, have only scored six goals.

Much of this is down to Beto, who has underperformed his xG by 1, scoring just once in his five appearances.

As it stands, this is the fourth-worst ratio in the division, with only Danny Welbeck, Amad Diallo and Ollie Watkins being poorer.

Stats provided by Sofascore on 25 September also show that Beto has consistently struggled to convert big chances this season.

As a result, Moyes simply has to sell the striker in the upcoming January transfer window.

Beto has already been linked away from Everton, and given his performances, Moyes should now green-light a sale.

The striker has been given numerous chances to fix his form, and with no signs of this improving, the funds from his sale could be invested in another attacker.

Thierno Barry should be given a run in the Everton starting XI

As poor as Thierno Barry has been for Everton recently, Moyes should consider giving him a run in the starting XI.

The striker was great in La Liga last season, and is clearly struggling to adapt to England at the moment.

Therefore, a run in the starting XI may help to speed up this process and develop him into the striker Everton needs.

Moyes should consider starting Barry against West Ham. If players like Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are behind him to create, there is no reason why the striker cannot find the net.
