West Ham without ‘Hammer of the Year’ vs Everton as latest team news emerges

Everton will take on West Ham on Monday, as they look to get back to winning ways after a disappointing week.

Liverpool beat Everton 2-1 in the Merseyside derby last week, with Arne Slot’s side putting an end to the Toffees’ unbeaten run.

And Everton lost 2-0 to Wolves in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, in what was a double-blow for David Moyes’ side after such a promising start to the season.

Monday will bring a fresh opportunity to get back on track, however, with the Toffees set to welcome the team who currently sit 19th in the Premier League.

Moyes can get Graham Potter sacked at West Ham, with the game reportedly set to be key in discussions over the former Chelsea boss’s position in the dugout.

West Ham star set to be missing for Everton clash

Interestingly, Moyes has never actually beaten Potter in a competitive match, despite the two having faced off on eight different occasions.

But Monday should present the best chance the Scot has had, with West Ham facing a terrible start to the season.

The Hammers have lost all but one of their five opening Premier League fixtures, conceding 13 goals along the way.

Moyes will be aware of the quality the visitors do still possess, however, with Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta usually able to create something from nothing, even on West Ham’s worst days.

Everton will be confident that they can breach Potter’s leaky defence, however, and the West Ham manager has shared a team news update that will only strengthen that belief.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Potter said: “We’ll still be without Aaron (Wan-Bissaka) with his stomach problem, but that’s it.”

Wan-Bissaka is a big loss for West Ham, the defender having won the club’s ‘Hammer of the Year’ last season.

Jack Grealish can terrorise Kyle Walker-Peters

West Ham signed Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer in the summer, and the full-back has been among the Hammers’ better players this season.

The 28-year-old has his weaknesses, though, and there is very few players better placed to exploit them than Jack Grealish.

The winger has given every defender he has faced this season a torrid time, and the West Ham man should expect no different on Monday.

Given Everton’s dominance at home this season, Grealish should be given the chance to run at Walker-Peters time and time again, with match-changing results almost expected of the 30-year-old in his current form.
