Friedkins to seal smart Everton transfer amid Jordan Pickford exit claims

Jordan Pickford is no doubt one of Everton’s most important players at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The goalkeeper has been fundamental to keeping the Toffees in the Premier League over the past few years after their recent drop down the table.

As a result, Pickford has been regularly hailed for his performances for both England and Everton, with Roy Keane labvelling the goalkeeper as “brilliant”.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Everton want to renew Pickford’s contract in the coming weeks to ensure that his stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium lasts even longer.

Bryan King: Jordan Pickford is staying at Everton

Pickford has been at Everton since 2017 and has now made over 300 appearances for the Toffees.

As a result, the goalkeeper is obviously held in high regard around the Merseyside club, with The Freidkin Group keen to keep England’s number one.

With Pickford currently Everton’s highest earner, it was assumed that a pay rise would come with any potential extension.

However, recent reports suggest an incentive-based contract will instead be offered to Pickford by The Friedkin Group in order not to break their wage structure.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bryan King was impressed with his approach, believing that the goalkeeper is set to stay at the Toffees, despite rumours that Pickford could leave Everton.

“I would imagine that the incentive part of it is a good way to go for Everton, rather than having players on massive basic wages,” King said.

“I could never see him going anywhere other than Everton to be honest. For me, it’s a sensible way for Everton to go about it.

“It’s nearly £500,000 a month. He shouldn’t have any qualms about that. If he’s going to get a new contract and the incentives are there, then that should be the incentive for him.”

Dan Friedkin deserves credit for Everton contract situation

While Everton did let go of multiple stars in the summer upon the expiry of their contracts, Dan Friedkin has done a lot to ensure this won’t happen again.

Once the deal for Pickford is wrapped up, that will be another major player who is tied down to a new deal.

Jarrad Branthwaite was another big Everton player who signed a new contract recently, as the Toffees’ defence is locked down long-term.

This is no doubt impressive work by the owner, as he looks to right the wrongs of the summer.
