Dwight McNeil’s Everton career is surely over as £20m-plus VIP transfer latest emerges

Dwight McNeil could be set to depart Everton in the near future.

McNeil has endured a miserable time at Everton recently, featuring just 21 times in the Premier League last season.

David Moyes has been reluctant to use McNeil this season, with just one league appearance and two in the Carabao Cup, and he has struggled, as the below Sofascore graphic shows.

McNeil was lacklustre as Everton exited the cup to Wolves, and that has led to speculation surrounding his future on Merseyside.

Dwight McNeil may be finished at Everton as Konstantinos Karetsas news emerges

Konstantinos Karetsas is attracting attention from Everton, which could spell the end for the former Burnley ace.

The Blues are believed to have had scouts in the VIP seats at Rangers, as the young right-winger Karetsas featured for Genk off the bench in the Europa League clash at Ibrox.

The Greek international would cost in the region of £20million, and is expected to be sold by the Belgian club in January or next summer.

The likes of Liverpool, Sunderland, Newcastle and Bournemouth also had scouts watching the 17-year-old.

Konstantinos Karetsas would surely take Dwight McNeil’s role at Everton

If the Blues signed the promising talent, he would surely take the backup role behind Iliman Ndiaye, which would leave McNeil as the third-string option.

The 25-year-old would not accept that and would surely seek an exit, if that were the case, as he wants to play regularly.

His display against Wolves suggests that he cannot step up and be a legitimate option for Moyes from the bench, and it is in the interest of both parties to move on.

Karetsas is one of the most hyped youngsters in European football, and he would not join to be behind Ndiaye and McNeil in the pecking order, given that he has so many options to choose from.

Therefore, if the Toffees press forward with their interest, then something has to give, which is likely McNeil’s Blues career.
