James Garner has already made Nuno Espirito Santo admission ahead of Everton vs West Ham

Everton will face a West Ham side with a new manager in charge on Monday.

The Hammers sacked Graham Potter on Saturday, and Nuno Espirito Santo will be in the dugout when they play Everton on 29 September.

David Moyes has a great record against the Portuguese boss, and he will hope to extend it at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

James Garner will be crucial to that, as he is one of the Blues’ most important players, and his thoughts on the new Irons boss are already clear.

James Garner takes inspiration from Nuno Espirito Santo

Everton are looking to qualify for European football this season, and Garner looked towards Nuno’s Nottingham Forest side’s exploits from last season.

The two never overlapped at the City Ground, with Garner leaving in 2022 before the former Wolves boss joined the club in 2023.

However, he was clearly still following his former club, as he revealed the inspiration that the Blues can take from Forest back in April.

Garner said: “Massively, yes. I think that’s the plan for next season.

“We want to be a surprise pick in the table for next season. I don’t think many people would expect us to finish in the top half of the table next season, but we know and definitely know that we’ve got the players and we’ve got the ability, and we’ve definitely got the team to finish in the top half.

“So they’ve gone on an inspiring run, and there’s no reason why we wouldn’t be able to do it.”

Everton can inflict further misery on West Ham

The Blues need to bounce back after failing to win their last three in all competitions, and exiting the Carabao Cup in the third round clash with Wolves.

The perfect opponent has fallen at the right time, with the Hammers on a miserable run of form, as they prepare to travel to Merseyside.

They may have a new manager bounce with Nuno, but that might not be the case as he has a tough job to turn things around at the London Stadium.

It will surely take him time to implement the changes that he wants to make and to implement his tactical philosophy, which should help the Toffees as they try to get back to winning ways.

Ultimately, victory would help the Blues in their attempts to emulate Nuno’s Forest success last season and leave Garner happy.
