Danny Murphy blown away by ‘phenomenal’ Everton moment vs West Ham

Everton will be pleased as they head into half-time against West Ham with a 1-0 lead.

Everton were looking to make history at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, by keeping a third clean sheet in a row at their new ground, which would put them in an exclusive club with Tottenham and Swansea.

David Moyes went with Beto to lead the Everton line, over young France Under-21 international Thierno Barry, and it looks set to pay off so far.

Nuno Espirito Santo was taking charge against Everton, in his first time as Hammers boss, but it did not go his way in the first half.

Danny Murphy amazed by Everton opener vs West Ham

Moyes has called for James Garner to be in the England squad, and Thomas Tuchel will surely have taken notice of his cross for the opener.

Garner whipped in a beautiful cross for Michael Keane to head home and send the home crowd into raptures and had ex-Liverpool man Danny Murphy stunned.

Speaking on talkSPORT after the goal, he said: “Phenomenal header, brilliant ball in from Garner, I do think Summerville could have got out quicker to stop the cross.

“He ambles out to him, nevertheless, the pace and the whip from the ball in from Garner was terrific.”

Murphy was on commentary for talkSPORT.

Michael Keane has been tremendous for Everton

Keane was not a regular for the Toffees last season, as he was behind James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite in the pecking order.

However, he has been given a chance in the team with Branthwaite being out since the pre-season clash with Roma in August.

It is safe to say that he has taken that chance, and it is difficult to see him being dropped for the 23-year-old at the moment when he is fit again, given his performances.

Moyes will hope that Keane and Tarkowski can stay solid in the second half, as the Irons have created several chances in the opening 45 minutes.

However, the Blues have been the stronger side, and Keane’s goal was exactly what they deserved, but they need another to make sure they get a victory and the visitors cannot get back into the game.
