Jeff Stelling livid at ‘inexplicable’ moment he saw in Everton draw vs West Ham
Everton were forced to settle for just a point against West Ham at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.
Michael Keane scored as Everton drew 1-1 with West Ham, in what was the third consecutive Premier League match without victory for David Moyes’ side.
The Toffees dominated much of the action, but were caught on the break by a brilliant Jarrod Bowen finish in the second half.
Jack Grealish provided four key passes against West Ham, in what was yet another brilliant display from the winger.
But Beto was slammed for having “no game intelligence” after the West Ham game, with the striker failing to capitalise on Everton’s pressure.

Jeff Stelling slams Sam Barrott for controversial moment vs West Ham
David Moyes has had previous issues with Sam Barrott, following the referee’s involvement in the late Diogo Jota’s winner in the Merseyside derby in April.
Luiz Diaz had been offside in the build-up and affected play without directly touching the ball, leading to complaints from the Scot after the game.
And the referee’s decisions were a point of discussion on Monday, too, after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall received an absurd yellow card.
Barrott blew his whistle after the midfielder had made what looked, in every way, a completely clean tackle on Kyle Walker-Peters.
Player – Everton vs West Ham | Fouls committed | Yellow cards |
Kyle Walker-Peters | 3 | 1 |
Mateus Fernandes | 3 | 0 |
El Hadji Malick Diouf | 3 | 0 |
James Tarkowski | 2 | 1 |
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall | 2 | 1 |
Soungoutou Magassa | 2 | 1 |
With the Englishman in shock at the decision, the referee then produced a yellow card – a decision Dewsbury-Hall later described as “mind boggling”.
Jeff Stelling agreed with the former Leicester City man’s bemusement, describing the Premier League’s standard of refereeing as “simply inexplicable“.
“How on earth was Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall yellow-carded at the end of the game? For what was an absolutely fair challenge,” Stelling added on his talkSPORT show on Tuesday.
“Nothing wrong with it! Nobody who has ever seen a football match will think there’s anything wrong with that challenge and now he gets a one-game ban!”

Premier League referees continue to confuse and anger
It was another shambolic game week for the Premier League when it comes to the standard of officiating.
The consistency and competency of the refereeing in the world’s most profitable league continues to be a talking point, week in, week out, and Dewsbury-Hall can count himself among the victims.
The midfielder will now serve a one-game ban, with his last, equally comical, yellow card picked up for taking a quick free-kick against Liverpool.
