‘Shambolic’ – Everton star ‘lacks intelligence’ in damning assessment vs West Ham
Everton unbeaten start at the Hill Dickinson Stadium continued after a 1-1 draw against West Ham United, but the result has left some questioning the current state of their squad.
The Toffees have amassed eight points after six games, and as much as this is an improvement from previous seasons, questions linger over multiple areas in their squad.
Everton’s forward line has attracted criticism, as strike duo Beto and Thierno Barry struggle to nail down consistent playing time.
In the draw against West Ham, this was the third successive occasion on which David Moyes opted to change his starting striker, highlighting the lack of consistency the Blues have in their front line.

Beto slammed for ‘shambolic’ performance against West Ham
Beto has started five games for Everton this season, managing to edge ahead of their £27million summer signing Barry.
The Portuguese was substituted in the 69th minute against the Hammers after producing little impact on the pitch, leading some to criticise his output.
Tony Scott on the Royal Blue Podcast was extremely critical of the 27-year-old striker.
He said: “He’s got no game intelligence, he doesn’t know whether to make runs, his link up play is awful.
“His hold up play is shambolic, and I look at other teams in the Premier League, and every single team in the league has got better centre forwards than Everton.”
Beto has scored one goal for Everton in the Premier League this season and has 11 Premier League goals in the last two seasons for the Blues.

Thierno Barry must be given a run of games for Everton
The job as an Everton number nine is a thankless task.
Since selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in 2017, the Toffees have failed to find a genuine goalscorer, with the exception of Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a select number of seasons.
They have gone through numerous strikers such as Sandro Ramirez, Cenk Tosun, Salomon Rondon, Neal Maupay, and none have managed to hit the heights required of them.
The signing of Barry offered hope for the Toffees as he was deemed more of a project signing, as opposed to signing a striker who is immediately ready to compete in the Premier League.

Last season the Frenchman was given consistent playing time for Villarreal and he was allowed the time to grow and develop.
Akin to Everton, the 22-year-old matches the current stage Everton find themselves in, not a finished product, but needing patience to allow his potential to flourish.
