David Moyes faces further fury as announcement made for Everton vs Crystal Palace

David Moyes has been an outspoken figure at Everton recently.

Everton could not beat West Ham, and have now failed to win in their last four matches in all competitions.

Everton host Crystal Palace at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 5 October, and they will be confident that they can end the visitors’ impressive 18-match unbeaten run.

However, Moyes may be concerned after a new announcement from the Premier League for the contest.

David Moyes is furious over Everton refereeing decisions

Moyes will be without Everton star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for the clash, after he reached five yellow cards already.

The Scotsman spoke out about the standards of the officials this season after the 1-1 draw with the Hammers, saying: “I think the decisions we’ve had at the moment [have been frustrating], but I think all the managers might be saying that at the moment.

“I mean, there’s been a general poor level at the moment. I thought the decision on Dewsbury-Hall was a really shabby decision.”

His fury is unlikely to go away anytime soon, as another controversial appointment has been made for the match with Oliver Glasner‘s side.

Michael Salisbury has been appointed as the referee, and he has a controversial history with the Blues.

Everton have history with Michael Salisbury ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Salisbury will take charge of the clash, but that may prove to be an issue given the decisions that he has given against the Toffees in the past.

The 40-year-old was the video assistant referee when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sent off in an FA Cup clash with Palace, with many feeling like there was not much contact for the incident.

He was the man in the middle when the Blues had a James Tarkowski goal ruled out against Wolves in a 4-0 win in December 2024, a decision which ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett felt was wrong.

He has also been involved in controversial decisions that did not involve the Blues, with the most prominent being the decision to disallow Fulham ace Josh King’s goal against Chelsea.

He was replaced as VAR for Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Arsenal as a result of that error, and Moyes will hope that he does make any similar mistakes when he is charge on Sunday.
