Tony Bellew makes his feelings on David Moyes clear after Everton claim – ‘He needs Jesus!’

Tony Bellew has come out swinging on the topic of David Moyes, with some Everton fans starting to question the Scot.

Everton drew 1-1 with West Ham on Monday, in what was a fourth consecutive game without victory for the Toffees.

Michael Keane had opened the scoring with a superb header, but Jarrod Bowen’s second-half strike saw the scores end level.

But much of the discussion following the game again surrounded the refereeing, after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was booked against West Ham for what looked to be a clean challenge.

Dewsbury-Hall called the referees’ decisions “mind-boggling”, after the midfielder had also received an absurd yellow card for taking a quick free-kick against Liverpool.

Moyes was rightly criticised for his line-up against Wolves last week, after the Scot had made huge changes to his team.

Everton were punished for the decision when Vitor Pereira’s side won 2-0 and knocked them out of the Carabao Cup.

But Moyes made no such mistake against West Ham, selecting what is arguably the strongest team available to the Toffees taking injuries into consideration.

It was a similarly disappointing performance, however, with Everton failing to create any big chances, despite enjoying the bulk of the possession.

James Garner and Dewsbury-Hall had good chances, but ultimately it was the visitors who looked likelier to score.

One Everton fan told talkSPORT on Tuesday that he wants Moyes sacked, but former professional boxer and Toffee, Bellew, was ready to dispel any chance of the Scot leaving.

“He needs Jesus! Me and my three boys in the car, we’re four season ticket holders and let me just tell you mate, not a chance,” Bellew said.

“No one wants the gaffer out. How could you possibly want him out after what he came in and done last season.”

“As long as he’s backed correctly and accordingly, David Moyes is the man to lead us back to the promised land,” he added.

David Moyes is not going anywhere

It would be foolish for any Everton fan to forget the instant impact Moyes had at Everton upon his return in January.

The Scot lifted the Toffees from the relegation zone to a 13th-place finish at the end of last season, and this season has seen Everton look a team transformed.

It has been a tough week for the Blues, but they currently sit ninth in the Premier League and will have the chance to get back on track on Sunday.
