David Moyes has the tools to end Crystal Palace unbeaten dreams ahead of Everton clash

Everton will take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, as David Moyes looks to avoid going five games across all competitions without a win.

Jarrod Bowen’s equaliser saw Everton draw 1-1 with West Ham on Monday, in what has been a difficult two weeks for the Toffees.

Draws against the Hammers and Aston Villa have been compounded by disappointing losses against Liverpool and Wolves.

Moyes’ position at Everton has even been questioned by some fans, but the vast majority have retained their faith in the Scot.

Crystal Palace are slight favourites against Everton for Sunday’s match, however, with the Eagles in brilliant form.

David Moyes has a strong record vs Crystal Palace

Everton have not lost to Crystal Palace since 2022, with last season seeing the Toffees complete the league double over the Eagles.

February’s meeting between the sides saw Beto score the opener, after Carlos Alcaraz had capitalised on a mistake to drive forward and find the striker.

Jean-Philippe Mateta had scored an equaliser in the second half, but it was Alcaraz, on his first Premier League start for Everton, who netted the winner in the 80th minute.

The victory was Moyes‘ 11th against Crystal Palace, with the very first coming in the old First Division – now named the Championship – all the way back in 2000.

The Scot, in charge of Preston North End, won both games against the Eagles in the 2000-01 season, and would go on to win his first seven meetings with the South London side.

In recent years, however, Moyes has struggled against Crystal Palace.

Before February’s win, the former Manchester United manager had not beaten Crystal Palace in four consecutive games.

Moyes will feel confident, however, boasting a strong overall record of 11 wins in 19 games against the Premier League’s only unbeaten side this season.

Crystal Palace are a team rejuvenated

Moyes will not have played many Crystal Palace teams like this one over the years.

Oliver Glasner‘s side beat Premier League champions Liverpool on Saturday, extending their unbeaten run to 18 games.

The Eagles sit third in the league and boast a collection of dangerous forwards, including Mateta and Ismaila Sarr.

Everton have threats of their own, however, and will be confident about their chances going into Sunday’s clash.
