Everton tipped to reignite interest in Josh Sargent despite significant ‘risk’ emerging
Everton could well find themselves in the market for yet another striker in the summer.
Despite the positives of the 2025-26 campaign, there have been plenty of negatives, and none more so than their attack.
So far this season, the Toffees have only netted seven times in the Premier League, with Beto being woeful for Everton. On top of this, Thierno Barry is yet to find the net since signing for Everton this summer.
This has become a massive concern, with David Moyes not being able to rely on his attackers.
As a result, the Scotsman may be forced to look at further additions up top, with Josh Sargent being previously linked to the Merseyside club.

Bryan King: Josh Sargent would be a good option for Everton
Down in the Championship, Sargent has continued his form for Norwich City despite their struggles.
The US international has netted five times in eight Championship matches this season, with the striker proving to be too good for the second tier.
Former Norwich boss David Wagner once hailed Sargent as a ‘complete striker’ to Pink Un on 5 March 2024.
- Sargent netted 15 goals in 33 matches last season
- This campaign, his form has continued netting five times in nine matches in all competitions
- This is despite Norwich sitting 19th in the Championship
Therefore, it was no surprise that Everton were linked to Sargent earlier this year. However, a move never materialised.
Now, given the Toffees’ woes in front of goal, Bryan King has backed Everton to reignite their interest in the striker.

“He’d certainly be a good option,” King exclusively told Goodison News.
“Everton let Calvert-Lewin go for free, so anything they’re going to bring in has got to be a better standard than him.
“He could probably have scored more goals, but he was a good centre forward for them.
“Sargent has been playing regularly in the Championship, and he’s scored goals. It’s always a risk when you bring players from lower league clubs, but if it comes off, then it’s great.”
David Moyes should avoid signing Sargent
As good as Sargent has been for Norwich, the risk attached to signing is too great.
The striker is clearly one of their best players, and given he has a contract until 2028, he will not come cheaply.
However, even if Everton do pay the money, there is no guarantee that he can score goals.
Realistically, if the Toffees want to end their woes in front of goal, they must buy a proven Premier League striker.
