Alan Shearer makes ‘desperate’ claim ahead of Everton vs Crystal Palace

Everton are set to take on Crystal Palace on Sunday, with David Moyes keen to see his side return to winning ways.

Crystal Palace can set a new club record for unbeaten top-flight league games if they avoid defeat at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Oliver Glasner‘s side are currently 19 games unbeaten across all competitions, with 12 of those coming in the Premier League.

But Moyes will be confident, given the fact that Everton have not lost home to Crystal Palace since 2022.

However, Moyes himself has not beaten Crystal Palace at home since 2013, despite holding a strong individual record against the Eagles.

Alan Shearer makes prediction ahead of Everton vs Crystal Palace

Jeff Stelling predicted that Everton’s clash with Crystal Palace would end goalless, with both teams enjoying strong defensive records this season.

But going forward, the Eagles undoubtedly offer a difficult proposition for the Toffees to match.

Ismaila Sarr, Jean-Philippe Mateta, and summer arrival Yeremi Pino have formed a front three that has allowed Crystal Palace to forget the departure of Eberechi Eze, with Eddie Nketiah also now finding form.

With the overlapping runs of Tyrick Mitchell and Daniel Munoz adding further bodies going forward, Everton are set to have their work cut out for them if they are to keep Glasner’s team out.

The Toffees offer danger themselves, with Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye continuing to thrive on either wing, but the dismal form of Beto has left Moyes looking for alternative solutions.

Alan Shearer told the Metro on Thursday that he thinks the scores at the Hill Dickinson Stadium will end level.

“Crystal Palace are a really good team,” the former Newcastle United striker wrote. “They played in Europe on Thursday which will make going to Everton that little bit tougher.

“With that record they have, they’ll be desperate to keep it going so I’ll go for a draw.”

Everton cannot fear Crystal Palace

Playing Crystal Palace in their current form is a difficult proposition for any team in the Premier League.

The Eagles battered champions Liverpool on Saturday, and have proven that last season’s FA Cup-winning campaign was no fluke.

But last season also saw Everton beat Glasner’s side both home and away, and the Toffees should be confident that they can do it again.

To do that, the Toffees will need to put the last month of disappointment behind them, and turn in their best performance of the season so far.
