Beto proves critics wrong after what he did vs Crystal Palace – ‘Exactly what Everton needed’

Everton picked up a famous victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday in a dramatic 2-1 win.

Goals from Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish ensured the Toffees completed a late comeback against the Eagles after Daniel Munoz’s first-half strike.

Multiple players impressed for Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. However, a star who may have gone under the radar was Beto.

Beto has been heavily criticised at Everton in recent weeks amid a goalscoring drought.

However, the striker has rightly been praised for his performance against Crystal Palace.

Alex Bruce: Beto was exactly what Everton needed

Coming on for the poor Thierno Barry at half-time, Beto no doubt had a point to prove.

Beto was terrible against West Ham in the week, which contributed to the dropped points.

However, against Crystal Palace, Beto provided a real focal point for the hosts, and helped them get up the pitch quicker with his hold-up play.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live on 5 October, Alex Bruce recognised this, and heaped praise on the striker.

He said: “Beto is a handful. He puts himself about and he runs the channels. He is a big physical presence for Everton. He is exactly what Everton needed.”

After a horrendous few weeks for the striker, he has no doubt proved his critics wrong.

If not for his impact from the bench, the Toffees could have easily lost the match, let alone won it.

Hopefully, after the international break, the attacker is able to finally end his goal drought and show Moyes why he should be in the starting XI on a consistent basis.

How good was Beto vs Crystal Palace?

According to Sofascore on 5 October, Beto was slightly below average against Crystal Palace.

While his passing accuracy and creativity were good, he still missed one big chance, while also failing to win an aerial duel.

However, if Beto can finally end his goal drought after the international break, it could give him the confidence to go on another purple patch.

Hopefully, Moyes is able to guide the striker back to form before he costs Everton more points.
