Gary Lineker and Micah Richards were looking out for Everton star who ‘struggled’ vs Crystal Palace
Gary Lineker and Micah Richards have shared their thoughts on Everton’s last gasp victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Everton beat Crystal Palace 2-1, with Jack Grealish‘s 93rd minute goal sealing the Toffees’ first win since the end of August.
The visitors took the lead in a dominant first half and should have wrapped up the three points through Jean-Philippe Mateta, but David Moyes‘ side responded incredibly in the second half.
Iliman Ndiaye was praised for his performance against Crystal Palace, with the winger scoring a second-half penalty before his cross led to Grealish’s winner.
Everton’s win marked the first time that they have come from behind to win since 2021, in what was a momentous day at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Micah Richards and Gary Lineker were looking out for Tyler Dibling
With Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall suspended for the Crystal Palace game, Tyler Dibling was handed his first Premier League start of the season by Moyes.
Everton spent around £40million to sign the youngster from Southampton in the summer, and there is an acknowledgement that he does still need time to adapt.
Tyler Dibling | Vs Crystal Palace |
Minutes played | 45 |
Accurate passes | 6/7 |
Touches in opposition box | 1 |
Dispossessed | 1 |
Successful dribbles | 0/3 |
Duels won | 3/10 |
Fouls | 2 |
But Moyes would have hoped to see slightly more from the teenager, who could not get into the game at all.
Dibling completed just six passes and lost the vast majority of his duels before being subbed off for Carlos Alcaraz at half-time.
In fairness, the winger was playing more centrally and in a position he has not spent a significant amount of time in.
Richards asked Lineker how Dibling played when the two were speaking about the game on The Rest Is Football podcast on Monday.
“He struggled a little bit, I think he struggled,” Lineker told the former Manchester City defender.
“He didn’t really get involved in the game, and he (Moyes) took him off at half-time. I was looking for his performance, didn’t get much of the ball and Palace bossed the first half anyway.”
Everton will be patient with Dibling
Moyes will hope that Sunday’s game will not have dented Dibling’s confidence too much.
The winger clearly possesses the talent to become a key player for Everton, but it is easy to forget just how young he is.
With the likes of Max Dowman, 15, and Rio Ngumoha, 17, making their names in the Premier League already, the idea of what age a player is really ‘young’ at can feel warped.
Moyes and Everton will not be tempted into rushing Dibling, however, and will be sure to be patient with the Toffees’ talented teen.
