Tim Sherwood shares what he loves about ‘amazing’ Everton star after what he did vs Crystal Palace

Everton have moved up to eighth place in the Premier League following their 2-1 win.

David Moyes has led Everton brilliantly, with Everton now past the era of fighting in dragged-out relegation battles.

Before a ball was kicked, Everton were predicted to finish 13th in the league this season, although the positive start to the campaign has left fans thinking that they might have an outside chance of European football.

Several players have stepped up this season, yet former Aston Villa and Spurs manager Tim Sherwood picked out one hero in particular.

Jack Grealish produces another game-changing moment vs Crystal Palace

Jack Grealish’s loan move to Everton from Man City could not have gone any better for all parties involved.

With the scores level at 1-1, Grealish threw his leg out to block Daniel Munoz’s clearance and inadvertently scored the 93rd-minute winner.

Speaking on Sky Sports on 6 October, Sherwood was delighted to see a player he previously managed thriving again.

He said: “I’m not surprised he wasn’t called up to the England squad, but if he continues to play the way he’s playing, I think it’s inevitable.

“Who doesn’t like Grealish? He’s an amazing character, and football fans love him because he’s a maverick.

“He’s not a robot on the pitch, and he’s not a robot off the pitch. That’s what I love about him, and he was a dream to manage.”

Grealish’s influence on the Toffees has been absolutely superb and he’s changed the outcome of many matches this season.

Grealish has not had the easiest of spells at Man City, with many of his appearances last season coming as a substitute.

The 30-year-old joined Man City for a fee of £100m from Aston Villa in 2022-23, yet has not lived up to his potential for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Sherwood, who managed Grealish in 2015, has made it clear that the winger is playing with a smile on his face once more, and if he keeps it up, he could be involved in Thomas Tuchel’s England plans.

Grealish has not featured for England since November 2024, and his form has come at the perfect time, with the 2026 World Cup just eight months away.

Jack Grealish faces tough competition for place in England squad

The England squad is absolutely packed with world-class attackers who have been performing consistently for a number of years now.

This leaves Grealish with a tough task to break into that group, yet his talent is undeniable.

Grealish must continue to impress if he wants to get another call-up for the Three Lions, and international breaks in November and March will be hugely important for deciding who is on the place to North America in June.

All football fans are happy to see Grealish playing with a swagger at Everton, and if he keeps it up, there’s no reason why he can’t be doing it on the world’s biggest stage.
