Data shows just how badly Beto has let David Moyes down this season at Everton

Everton were delighted to snap Crystal Palace’s 18-game undefeated streak on Sunday.

David Moyes has made a good start to the season with Everton, as new signing Jack Grealish has starred.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium boasts an impressive record of five games unbeaten, as Everton look to make it a fortress in their quest for European football.

There are, however, areas that Moyes needs to fix for Everton if they are to continue their good form this season.

One main issue that Moyes currently faces is his striker dilemma, as emerging data on Beto is sounding alarm bells.

Beto’s xG underperformance is hurting Everton and David Moyes

Beto has had his struggles since joining Everton, but when Moyes took over midway through the 2024-25 campaign, he managed to find his best goalscoring form yet.

Luckily for Everton, Iliman Ndiaye and Grealish have been on top form so far this season, but at some point, the Toffees will be made to rue Beto’s poor data.

Beto’s stats in the Premier League, according to Sofascore:

Beto hasn’t been short of service this campaign, as his poor form forced Moyes to withdraw him for new signing Thierno Barry against Palace.

Grealish spared Beto’s blushes right at the death against Palace, as Beto failed to convert a header from point-blank range, with the Manchester City loanee converting on the rebound.

Beto’s now underperforming his xG by 1.54, meaning he should have one or two more goals than he currently does.

As per stats by Sofascore, he ranks fourth in the Premier League this season for xG underperformance – although he’s in good company alongside the likes of Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze.

However Beto’s underperformance in front of goal isn’t his only issue, as he is failing to carry his weight in other aspects of the game.

Beto is Everton’s lowest-rated player this season

This is now Beto’s third season at the Toffees, as so far he has yet to repay the big transfer fee that Everton splashed on the 6,4″ striker.

The forward is dominant in the air, but further stats have revealed that Beto is the worst performer in Everton’s squad so far this season.

Barry’s stats aren’t flattering, but he is young and still adapting to the league. Beto on the other hand, should be showing signs of progress now, but he’s not.

Assuming this trend from Beto continues, Moyes may be forced to ask The Friedkin Group for a favour in January.
