Everton told to seek cheaper deal for Franculino Dju as eyewatering price tag emerges
Everton’s problems in front of goal have continued to remain an issue for David Moyes.
Even in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, Thierno Barry was brought off at half-time in a poor display at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
As a result, the attackers’ bluntness in front of goal has cost the Toffees numerous points already this season.
With Jack Grealish’s creativity, it has been baffling that Everton have struggled to find the net.
As a result, the Toffees could now look to go in for Franculino Dju, who has continued to impress in Denmark.

Bryan King: Everton should look to sign Franculino Dju for around £12m+
Dju has turned into a top striker at Midtjylland.
So far this season, he has netted 10 times in 19 games and has also picked up three assists.
Former Midtjylland football director, Peter Sand, once described the striker as “unpredictable”, while also possessing “high technical skill” when examining the striker back on 19 December 2024.
Now, with Everton considering reigniting a move for Dju, the Danish side is set to demand around £17.5million for the attacker.
- Dju notched 11 goals and three assists in the Superliga in the 2023-24 season
- He followed that with the same record and a Europa League strike in the 2024-25 campaign
- The 14-cap international has 10 goals and three assists this season, a total of 13 contributions
However, former Everton scout Bryan King exclusively told Goodison News that he believes this price tag is too high.
“Players who have been playing in Scandinavia have always been players who have interested Everton,” King said.
“That was my main area when I worked for them, and I had to do a lot of work there.
“Franculino has done well, he obviously had a good education with Benfica, and now he seems to have progressed. Midtjylland are a good side, and they’re a decent club.

“I think £17million would be a little bit steep. I would imagine £12m would be a reasonable figure, with add-ons.
“If you’re going to pay £17m for a young player from Scandinavia, then you’ll want instant results. I think it would take time for him to settle in.”

Everton need to fix their attacking issues in January
Whether Everton make a move for Dju or decide to look elsewhere, they must sign a striker in January.
Their attacking issues have cost the Toffees multiple points, and this will likely continue until the transfer window.
Therefore, Moyes has to have someone lined up, or Everton risk a good campaign collapsing before their eyes.
Realistically, a proven striker would be the Toffees’ best option, rather than sign someone who has little to no experience in the Premier League.
