Nathan Patterson has perfect chance to revive Everton career as David Moyes issues concerning injury update
Nathan Patterson has been out of Everton’s plans for much of the 2025-26 campaign.
The right-back is yet to make an appearance in any competition under David Moyes this season and has mainly been seen on the bench.
Rumours circulated in the summer that Patterson was set to join Sevilla on loan. However, this move never materialised.
Now, the 23-year-old could be presented with an opportunity to save his career.

Nathan Patterson could be given a run in the starting XI due to Michael Keane injury
While there was plenty of positives from Everton’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday, there were also negatives.
Perhaps the biggest was the injury to Michael Keane, who was forced off in the second half.
Keane has been excellent for Everton this season, and has easily been one of their best players.
Moyes told the Liverpool Echo on 5 October that he “doesn’t know” how long the centre-back could be out for amid a potential injury to his ribs.
With Jarrad Branthwaite also still out on the sidelines, Jake O’Brien could be placed back into a centre-back role, with Patterson coming in on the right.

This could be the Scottish international’s last chance to save his Toffees career.
If he is able to put together a string of good performances, he can prove to Moyes that he deserves to be in the first-team picture.
If not, a sale seems almost guaranteed in the near future.

Patterson has not been good enough for Everton in recent years
When the right-back has been given a chance to shine in recent years, he has been poor.
In matches such as the 1-1 draw with Arsenal last season, Patterson was awful, which has no doubt contributed to his lack of appearances this season.
Therefore, with Manchester City up next, it will be a huge task for the Scotsman to prove himself.
However, the right-back is still young and was once a regular in the first team, and there is no reason why he can’t become a top player in the future.
