Everton lead Premier League in impressive stat as David Moyes influence spelled out
Everton have enjoyed a superb start to the Premier League season, with David Moyes’ enjoying life back on Merseyside.
Moyes was re-hired by Everton in January, and his return has proved transformative for the Toffees.
The Blues were flirting with the relegation zone under Sean Dyche, but now look to be heading up the table amid several exciting arrivals.
Everton beat Crystal Palace 2-1 before the international break, with Jack Grealish bagging a stoppage-time winner.
Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye have exceptional for Everton this season, and have proven themselves among the Premier League‘s best duos.

Everton dominant in the duel
Everton have been predicted to finish 11th in the Premier League this season, in what would be their best league finish since 2020-21.
But the Toffees will have confidence that they can look even higher than that, with several players in superb form this season.
Ndiaye and Grealish aside, the likes of James Garner, Michael Keane, James Tarkowski and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have all been exceptional for Everton.
The last month has seen problems emerge, but Sunday’s victory proved how effective Moyes‘ side can be when on the same page.
And one impressive stat has further emphasised that sentiment. According to Statmuse, Everton are leading the Premier League in duels won this season.

It is not particularly close, either; Everton’s massive 411 duels won in just seven games dwarfs second-placed Wolves’ 379.
Among the Toffees’ best individual performers in the stat are Ndiaye and Grealish, who lead the way with 49 won, and Tarkowski and Jake O’Brien, who trail closely behind with 48 and 43, respectively.

David Moyes has stamped authority on Everton
When you think of a Moyes team throughout the Scot’s time in the Premier League, you think solid, tough-tackling, energetic, and hard to play against.
Of course, that does a disservice to the former Manchester United man’s clear ability to coach an attack, too, but his teams have always been known for their ruggedness.
Everton | Premier League 2025-26 |
Duels won | 411 |
Interceptions per match | 8.1 |
Clearances per match | 29.4 |
Tackles per match | 16.9 |
Fouls per match | 10.3 |
Expected goals against (xGA) | 9.8 |
And this Everton team is no different. The Scot will have been drilling into his players since the day he arrived, that they must win their duels to give Everton a foothold.
Moyes has not been disappointed, and will be delighted to see his stamp being demonstrated so well by his team.
