David Moyes green lights family hire at Everton as inside word emerges on behind-scenes struggles

David Moyes could shake things up at Everton before his players return from the international break.

Moyes is without 10 Everton players called up for international duty after impressing throughout the season at Finch Farm.

Jordan Pickford surpassed George Banks’ England record after making it eight consecutive clean sheets against Wales. Meanwhile, Jack Grealish will be working hard to impress Thomas Tuchel next time around.

However, Moyes has not taken time during the Premier League pause to have a well-deserved break.

David Moyes to appoint son into Everton’s scouting team

Moyes will look to keep it in the family at Everton and bring his son into the club’s scouting team, according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon on 12 October.

David Junior has worked for West Ham and previously spent time as an agent, but is now on course to join the Toffees’ scouting staff and will be tasked with scouring overseas talent.

While the decision was made by a separate part of the club, it is understood to have come with the manager’s blessing.

There was talk of bringing Mick Doherty back to Everton, but it is now being reported that the Toffees are finding it difficult to tempt him to return.

The “inside word” is that the wages on offer to Doherty are not high, and the budget may not be enough to facilitate his return.

Nevertheless, the appointment of David Junior marks a clear step forward where overseas scouting is concerned.

David Moyes is doing one thing at Everton very well

Everton are currently a respectable eighth in the Premier League, thanks to the tactical brilliance of Moyes.

While the Toffees have been strong offensively, having netted nine goals in seven games, their defensive efforts supersede this.

Indeed, Everton have conceded seven goals, which averages to just one goal per game.

Meanwhile, the Blues have only made one error leading to a goal, with Pickford registering 2.4 saves per game. Everton have also recorded 29.4 clearances and recovered 46 balls per 90 minutes.

While attacks win games, defences win titles and seventh in the league for goals conceded is a feat that Moyes will both be proud of and want to build on.

Hopefully, hires behind the scenes can help that.
