Everton could be convinced to sell ‘incredible’ star as overseas interest ramps up already

David Moyes’ inconsistent start to the season for Everton could be made worse in the coming weeks at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Jack Grealish has been incredible for the Everton coach, but he had to watch from afar as his parent club, Manchester City, terrorised Everton’s defence while ineligible on Saturday.

The 62-year-old would have wanted more from his side, with inconsistency now the overriding frustration on Merseyside at this moment.

Slipping to 12th in the Premier League table and likely looking for a way up after a positive start dropped, Moyes has been handed another curveball.

Vitalii Mykolenko subject to overseas interest

Both James Garner and Vitalii Mykolenko’s contracts at Everton expire this summer.

There is no doubt that extending both will be one of The Friedkin Group’s (TFG) priorities. However, they may need to pick up the pace where the left-back is concerned.

Indeed, Mykolenko has garnered interest from several clubs in Italy and Spain who are following his situation closely, according to Foot Mercato on 19 October.

It is understood that the 26-year-old, who has the option to extend for an additional year, does not have plans to leave the club.

However, while Everton want to retain him, they could be convinced of a sale if a particularly advantageous offer is tabled.

Moyes will not want to lose his starting left-back.

Now with suitors circling and time ticking by, extending Mykolenko before he is free to talk with clubs in January could be best for all involved.

Vitalii Mykolenko needs to improve his form

The Ukrainian international has established himself as a key part of the Toffees’ defence since arriving in 2022.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live back in January 2024, former Everton midfielder Leon Osman praised the fullback.

He said: “It’s been an incredible rise from Vitaliy Mykolenko. When he first joined, I wasn’t certain about him.

“He looks stronger this season and is happy to go toe-to-toe with wingers. He’s one of the first men on the team sheet now.”

However, his performances have been inconsistent since the season began. In fact, fans have still not recovered from Mykolenko’s abysmal performance in Everton’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

He won just one of his ground duels and not a single aerial duel, via Sofascore, in a performance which was turbulent from beginning to end.

While the left-back did register one key pass, he accumulated 0.17 in expected assists, which questions the quality of the pass.

Mykolenko has gone on to have better performances since the September clash, namely for his country, where he provided an assist against Iceland. But he’ll need to be more consistent with his displays if he wants to remain in the good graces of Everton supporters.
