Everton to go all out to seal Ansu Fati transfer after huge development in Spain

Everton have been linked with a move for Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati ahead of the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old is currently out on loan in Ligue 1 with Monaco, where he has made an excellent start to the season with six goals in his first six competitive games this term.

Everton are keeping tabs on Fati’s progress on the French Riviera, where he continues to breathe new life into a fledgling career that has stalled somewhat in recent years.

The forward struggled in the Premier League in 2023-24, as he notched just two league goals from 19 games during a stint with Brighton, but it is clear that he has since developed significantly as a player.

Everton must go all out for Ansu Fati as Real Betis lurk

Everton are keeping a close eye on Fati after some impressive recent performances, but Monaco still hold the option to buy the youngster for a fee of around £9.5million at the end of the season.

However, that figure may no longer be viewed as satisfactory by his parent club, which has prompted sides like the Toffees to begin sniffing around the starlet.

Real Betis are the latest to show an interest in the attacker, with the Spanish giants keen to take him on a permanent deal next summer, according to El Nacional.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are also understood to have been keen to sign Fati before his loan spell with Monaco was confirmed.

For Barcelona’s part, they are believed to have “closed the door” on any potential return for Fati at the moment, which leaves the door open for the likes of Everton to swoop in and do a deal next summer.

However, with interest in him seemingly mounting elsewhere, the Merseysiders must ensure that they go all out to seal the deal, as that interest will only continue to build with every promising display.

Ansu Fati signing could be Thierno Barry repeat

Thierno Barry has struggled at Everton since his £27m move from Villarreal in the summer, and the difficulties that he has experienced when it comes to settling in will surely make the Toffees wary in future.

The striker is yet to find the back of the net for his new club, and with Fati coming from a similar background in Spanish football, David Moyes and Co. will need to be mindful that it would likely take time for them to see the best of him.

Fati has already had a taste of the Premier League through his Brighton stint, and the hope would undoubtedly be that he would hit the ground running if he did return.

However, given the way the situation has played out with Barry at the moment, Everton won’t want to get embroiled in a bidding war for Fati and risk paying a sizeable fee.

That provides yet more reason for them to begin taking their pursuit even more seriously and to try and steal a march on the competitors.
