Everton backed to seal permanent Ivan Toney transfer amid huge January development
Everton could be about to seal a sensational Premier League return for Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.
The striker has been away from English football since he chose to swap Brentford for Saudi Arabia in August 2024, but a return appears to be on the cards this winter.
It has been suggested that Everton should target a move for Toney, with the likes of West Ham already linked with a move to bring him back to his homeland.
The 29-year-old is hopeful of securing a Premier League move to aid his World Cup hopes, and David Moyes may now be prepared to provide him with the opportunity that he needs.

Ivan Toney loan deal would be ‘very good’ for Everton
Everton were briefly linked with Toney during his time with Brentford, but a move for the frontman ultimately eluded them and the rest of the top flight.
The England international netted 30 goals for Al-Hilal in all competitions last season, but his time in the Middle East could now be drawing to a close.
Toney is currently being linked with a short-term return to English football, in the form of a loan move until the end of the season.
- Toney struck 20 Premier League goals for Brentford in the 2022-23 campaign
- He has played at all four levels for the English Football League
- Toney’s last England appearance came against Senegal in June, when he played two minutes
However, ex-Everton scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that his former employers may be able to add an option to buy the striker as part of the deal, and feels that they would be a good option for the frontman.
“I think he (Toney) could certainly play alongside Beto,” King said.
“Toney should never have gone to Saudi Arabia. He would be a very, very good loan deal until the end of the season, especially with an option to buy.
“I think he could do a good job at Everton, he’d certainly be their type of player. It would be a great move.
“I think Everton would be as good a choice as any. He wants regular football, and I think he’d definitely get that at Everton.”

Jack Grealish may swing Ivan Toney’s transfer decision
Jack Grealish has been electric for Everton so far this season, and he could play a key role in tempting Toney into his next move.
The Manchester City loanee has proved that he is still one of the league’s finest creators when he’s at his best, and from a striker’s point of view, he will create ample opportunities to find the back of the net.
With that in mind, Grealish’s presence alone could give Everton the edge in the race for Toney’s signature, as the winger would be able to put him in the spotlight in front of goal.
He needs to be making headlines in the Premier League to attract Thomas Tuchel’s attention, and Everton could be the perfect place for him to do that.
